Education Minister Karin Prien has put forth a proposal to establish a legal minimum age of 13 for social media use in Germany. This initiative comes amid growing worries about the impact of social media on young people.

Reports indicate that approximately a quarter of German youth are spending excessive time on social media platforms. Alarmingly, around 350,000 young individuals are identified as having an addiction problem related to these platforms.

The proposed age limit aims to protect children from potentially harmful online content and to address the increasing concerns surrounding youth addiction to social media.
